In the Works...

I keep forgetting that I HAVE a blog! It's not laziness that keeps me from posting - it's forgetfullness brought on by old age!

The Updates:

I was fortunate enough to have been invited by the Second City to participate in ideaCity 2005. ideaCity is a festival of...IDEAS....hosted in Toronto by Moses Znaimer because, "Ideas change the world". Smarty-pants from all walks of life (geneticists, physicists, environmentalists.....a LOTS of " -ists") came from around the world to simply share some of the ideas that they are currently working on to help change the world. (Even Raffi was there - nice guy!) Second City was there to observe the entire conference and then....make it funny by closing the festival. Yeah!

We followed Robert Kennedy JR.!!!

Robert Kennedy Jr. is a lovely man who came to talk to us about an organisation he belongs to called Waterkeeper Alliance. I had never heard of it....Well, if you're taking the time to read my silly little blog - please take another few minutes out of your life to visit:

Waterkeeper seeks to protect our WATER by patrolling for polluters and legally prosecuting them. They started on the banks of the Hudson River....and there are now Waterkeepers ( Riverkeepers, Lakekeepers, etc...) all over the world! The hope is that one day - EVERY body of water will have a Waterkeeper who seeks to protect it. This is BIG and seriously important folks! ( There is a Bow Riverkeeper! Who knew that?!....call them up, see what YOU can do!)

I came away from ideaCity VERY inspired....and also a little lost, asking myself, "How do I make the world a better place?" Yes - making people laugh, and telling them stories is EXTREMELY important - but I felt moved to see if there was anything I could do to contribute to Waterkeeper.....even though I'm not a lawyer! I sent off a few emails....

Here's what I pitched: The word "Waterkeeper" sounded pretty magical to me -so I proposed that I write a children's story about Waterkeepers that might get children interested in the Waterkeeper movement....and they went for it! So - now I'm doing research and lots of day dreaming for a piece that I will submit to Waterkeeper magazine for the Winter Issue!!! Crazy! Thrilling! Details to follow.....

Other things "in the works".....There's going to be a wedding - in Calgary - in the spring - at the Loose Moose Theatre....and I'm pretty sure that Bruce and I are going to be VERY involved with it! Details to follow....

And - there may be some interesting things in the works "work-wise"....but I'm going to sit on it for now....don't want to JINX anything!

Anyhow - all this typing has been a wonderful distraction from PACKING. Bruce and I are moving AGAIN -to a fantastic studio on Yonge Street....REAL downtown living! So....back to working....

Seriously....check out the Waterkeepers - clean water is everyone's RIGHT.
